LightForm Closing Webinar

At the beginning of October Prof. João Quinta da Fonseca gave a closing Webinar on the LightForm multidisciplinary project. The hour-long event presented an overview of the project with a focus on the main scientific highlights of the research that was undertaken and provided an overview of our industrial collaborations. He emphasized the notable achievements of the last 5 years despite COVID and touched on important practices the project took to heart: The code of conduct and open data management. The talk will also cover some of the major challenges encountered and lessons learned during the running of a large grant. Some of the research topics covered included:
- Warm forming of high strength aluminium alloys
- Microstructure evolution during hot working of Ti alloys
- Reproducible computational materials modelling
