Dr. Pratheek Shanthraj completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the North Carolina State University in 2012. He has since worked at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research, Düsseldorf, and the RWTH University, Aachen, leading a research group on the microstructural modelling of materials, before moving to The University of Manchester in 2018 as an Airbus sponsored Research Fellow within the School of Materials.

His current research work focuses on predicting the effect of microstructure on the property of complex engineering alloys through modelling and simulation. He is also one of the lead developers of the widely used simulation tool, DAMASK.

Pratheek leads the software development and microstructure modelling activities in LightForm.
