Creep age forming (CAF) is a well proven method in panel and fuselage skin fabrication for aircrafts and is more advanced and efficient compared to the traditional method. Also, as one of the most recently introduced aluminium alloy products, the 3rd generation aluminium alloy can provide superior mechanical properties and higher extent of weight reduction compared to its predecessors. Thus, it is of significance to study the material behaviours of the 3rd generation Al-Li alloy in CAF. To further explore and develop corresponding components fabrication methods by adopting CAF is the aim of this project.
